Will I Still Make It To Heaven If I Commit Sin? Part 1 | 15/12/20 | STS Devotional

Good morning,

The answer to this question is very simple. You do not need to do too much bible studies to know what God is saying about this. God clearly answered this question in Ezekiel 18:24 & 26 so I will just quote Him directly:

“24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. 26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.”

God is saying here that it does not matter if you call yourself a righteous person. It does not matter if you are a Christian. It does not matter if you are even a pastor. If you turn away from your righteous ways and commit iniquity, you shall die. You may not yet die physically, but spiritually you shall die. You are become one of Satan’s children.

This is a very fearful thing.

Note that God neither stated how many sins you must commit before you transit from heaven’s list to hell’s list. He also did not state how long you must commit that sin before the transfer is done. But I know the devil, that wicked roaring lion. He is constantly monitoring you, just waiting for you to make a mistake and once you do, he does not waste any time in accusing you before God so he can take what is rightfully his- your soul.

Perhaps you have a heap of sins over your head that you have not yet truly repented from. I want you to listen to last Friday’s (11/12/20) devotional again so you will understand how to repent and have your sins forgiven.

Please and please, do not make the mistake of remaining in your sin. Do not joke with it, the devil has already marked the date of your death on his calendar. He needs to quickly kill you before you repent. Do not risk your eternal destiny because of pride. Humble yourself before God, go to him in your secret place and repent.

What Is The One Thing That God Cannot Change? | 14/12/20 | STS Devotional

Good morning,

Ezekiel 18:4 states something very scary. However, it is a statement of fact, it cannot be changed. It says, “The Soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Maybe you do not understand. The wages of sin is death. The reward for sin is death. There is nothing that can change it. The devil cannot change it. It is an eternal law that even God cannot change. For God to change this law would mean he is no longer God. You see Jesus had to die so that God could wash away sins and let people who were once sinners live forever. Jesus died, not so that God could let sinners into heaven, but so that your sins could be washed away therefore making you no longer deserving of hell but deserving of heaven. But the law of sin and death still stands today. All sinners have their place in hell and God is just enough to make sure this happens.

In verse 23 of this same chapter, God goes on to say, “Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? Saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?” This is God himself speaking and you must take Gods word more seriously than that of any man, even in the bible. God has absolutely no pleasure even in the death of a sinner; a sinner who deserves death. But he cannot become unjust and save the sinner, else he is no longer God.

God in his wisdom made a provision. A way in which your sins could be washed away or forgiven, and you would not have to perish. The way is Jesus Christ. All you now must do is to believe in Jesus as the son of God and in his sacrifice for you. Then use the power he gives to all who believe in him to live above sin/to live in holiness/in righteousness/to walk in newness of life.

Believing in Jesus and being born again are two separate things. How? The devil believes in Jesus. He knows even more than you that God exists, that Jesus is the son of God, that he died to take away sins. He believes, but that does not mean he is born again. It is up to you to make use of the power (or right) that Jesus offers you after you have believed/received him (John 1:12). That you have the right to something does not mean that you have it yet. After you have believed, repentance is the next step to getting your sins forgiven and washed away; and it involves a change of ways.

Righteousness is the only proof that you are born again. At this point, you may want to justify yourself by quoting Romans 10:9-10. Go to your bible and read it again. It is very easy to claim anything, but until there is proof, no claim can be validated. Apostle Paul added that to be saved, you cannot just confess; you must believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. Only a person who has truly believed in Jesus Christ and his grave suffering on the cross and his resurrection can walk in newness of life.

Eliminate the mindset that it is okay to sin once in a while. Is it also okay for someone to rape you once in a while? Is it also okay for someone to kill one of your children once in a while? All sin is equal in God’s sight and the soul that sins shall die.

God is directly speaking to you today (verse 30-32):

Therefore I will judge you, O (insert your name) according to your ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourself from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O (insert your name)? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourself, and live ye.

How Can I Know I Have Truly Repented | 12/12/20 | STS Devotional

Good morning,

According to the dictionary, Repentance means, “to express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin”. Repentance is a very common word in Christian circles. However, do we really understand what it means to repent? Today we shall consider true biblical repentance and how we can practically apply it in our daily lives.

Ezekiel 16:63 starts with the words, “Then Thou shalt remember thy ways and be ashamed…” If you read the preceding chapters, you will see God venting out his anger over the sinful acts of the children of Israel. Here, God is rounding up by saying that after punishing them sorely, they will remember their ways and be ashamed.

  1. Ashamedness: The first step of true repentance is a feeling of shame. You will feel ashamed that you have done something beneath you. When you lie, you should think about it and feel ashamed, not feel justified or just feel like you made a mistake. I will share one of my personal experiences in the audio version of this devotional. Check it on YouTube or join the WhatsApp group to get it. When you begin to feel ashamed, you can either run from God like Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden or you can turn to Jesus in sorrow of heart. If you are truly sorry for the wrong you have done, you will feel sorry in your heart. You will likely start shedding tears as you cry to Jesus Christ for mercy.
  2. Perseverance: Persevere in prayer until you get to that stage where your spirit is broken. You cannot rush God to have mercy on you. That only shows that you are not serious. Remember that you offended God by your evil deed, and He is not happy with you. A few minutes of apology will not cut it. Think about when someone you love betrays you, will you think that the person is truly sorry if the person just throws you a casual apology? No! But if the person comes to you begging and crying, then you may really begin to think that the person is genuinely sorry. God says in Ezekiel 34:16 that he will bind up that which was broken and in Psalm 51:17 that he will not despise a broken spirit and a contrite heart.
  3. Importunity: If someone has deeply hurt you but can only spare a few minutes to say sorry and quickly rushes off to something more important, you will consider the persons action as just a show. But if the person keeps refuses to go away but stays there begging and crying in tears, you will eventually attend to the person because then you know the person is serious about getting your forgiveness. You may not accept the person back into your life so to say. But you will attend to the person just so that they will stop bothering you.
  4. Change: Change is the proof of true repentance. If someone keeps lying to you and comes begging and crying for repentance each time, you will know the person is not serious with you yet. Until there is a noticeable change in your ways, your repentance is not complete. God will not start any serious dealings with you yet if you keep doing the same evil acts repeatedly simply because He cannot trust you.

I encourage you to make up your mind to show God you are ready to be serious with him today.

Am I Really Gods Child? | 10/12/20 |STS Devotional

Good morning,

The word of God has not left us in the dark concerning who is a real child of God. In fact, many of us unconsciously think that God is confused as to who exactly is his child. Therefore, we put up all sorts of hypocritical and fake acts of religion. We think that somehow, we can trick God into accepting us as his children. We do not know who God is at all; we neither understand his fear nor his terror. There is a verse in the bible says that our Lord knows them that are his, therefore, let him that names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.

You see Revelations chapter 2 gives us a sneak-peak into how we will be judged on that day. If you claim to have believed in Jesus as Lord while on earth, the devil will counter you and say that he and his demons also believe that and tremble at the slightest thought of it. Jesus Christ judged those churches in Revelations 2, based on their present state at the time of judgement. It did not matter that they were once on fire for God. What mattered was the state Jesus came and found them in. That is how judgement is going to be. You will be judged according to how you are when you die or when Jesus comes.

This is the kind of Christianity that will keep you on your toes, holding tightly unto Jesus until you see his face. This is true Christianity.

1 John 3:9-10 says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”

Please read the above chapters three more times. Do not try to twist it into something else, just read it as it is.

The proof of your being born-again is that your works or ways are righteous i.e., they match the fruits of the spirit of God you see in Galatians 5:22.

If your ways are any different, the bible says you are not of God. I did not say it. It is in the bible. If you think I am lying open your own bible to 1 John 3:9-10 and read out what it says to your own hearing. When you finish you can come back, lets continue.

This is a very heavy and fearful message for me to preach to believers today. But God is so loving that he did not wait until you died to show these things to you. He is not willing that you should perish so he has delayed his coming making sure that you read these things or that someone points them out to you hoping eagerly that you will repent. Jesus is desperately hoping that you will read this and not just shrug your shoulders and quote some biblical promises to deceive yourself.

Jesus is hoping that you will think deeply about it and finally cast off your weight of sin and run this race with patience before it is too late. Beloved, today I hope the same thing for you too and I wish you God-speed.

Why Are Some Pastors Judgmental? | 8/12/20 | STS Devotional

Good morning,

Today’s devotional is titled, “Why are Some Pastors Judgmental?” I mean, not only pastors, some other Christian men of God and even fellow believers. Why do they make conclusions about our actions and inactions when they have not fully understood our situation in life? They criticize our motives and sometimes even call us out. Are they doing the right thing? Shouldn’t they just allow God to judge us? Afterall only God understands, right? They should just only remind us of Gods promises and blessings, right?

These are the questions that may come to your mind when someone points out a fault in you. The person may not even be talking to you directly, but you feel guilty because you know you are in the wrong. It is because you have a conscience and God put that conscience in you so that you know right and wrong. He put that conscience in you to keep you in check.

I want you to take a moment to imagine a world where human beings do not have consciences. People will kill at will. Rape will be the order of the day. Lying and stealing will be the norm. Nobody will caution themselves. This whole world will be totally out of order. In fact, you would have probably already killed yourself if someone else has not succeeded at murdering you yet.

Isaiah 59:15 clearly states that, “…and it displeased Him that there was no judgement.” God was not happy that there was no judgement in Israel. Everybody was saying, “All is well”, when all was not well at all. In fact, the earlier part of that verse says, “…and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey:” Meaning that there was so much evil going on that those who tried to do right were considered abnormal people worthy of being harmed or stoned to death.

When there is no judgement, people behave anyhow. It is because you knew you will be thrown into hell fire when you die that you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. If there was no hell, then our salvation will have no weight. It is because we know we can die anytime that we try to work hard and reap the fruits of our labors on earth.

God is the originator of judgement. He invented it and he gave it to us as conscience so that we will even be able to judge ourselves.

So why do some pastors or men of God judge? They do so because it is necessary for you. It is so that you will remain on the right track. Satan, the world, and your flesh are constantly trying to lure you away. Satan knows that on judgement day, just like the story of Lazarus and the Rich man, it will not matter whether you were rich or poor, whether you lived under the bridge or in a mansion, whether you were educated or illiterate, whether you were an orphan or widow. You will still be judged according to God’s word and by then it will be too late to repent.

Take the judgement you receive here on earth as a tool to check yourself, to examine yourself if you are still standing. The bible says, let him who stands take heed lest he falls. We feel hurt when people judge us, but judgement gives us an opportunity to quickly repent. Tomorrow may be too late. God bless you.

THE NO. 2 SHOCKING THING THAT MAKES YOU SIN | SINNER TO SAINT | 5/12/20

Good morning and welcome to Sinner To Saint devotional,

Continuing from yesterday on Ezekiel 16:49, the second shocking thing that makes you sin is fulness of bread. We can either interpret fulness of bread to mean abundance of material provisions like food, shelter, and clothing or to mean abundance of spiritual knowledge. Today, we shall consider both possibilities.

Sometime when Jesus was still on earth, he told a story of a boy. This boy was the second son of a well-to-do father. His father provided completely for him and he was doing very well. One day, he decided that he should not have to always go to his father to ask for every little thing. He wanted financial freedom. He wanted to be able to buy his own bread and fetch his own water. He wanted everyone, especially his elder brother to know he was man enough to cater for himself.

So, one day, he walked up to his loving father and told him, “I cannot stand living under your roof anymore.” You see, normal children wait until their father is dead before they think of taking their inheritance. But this boy was so arrogant that he told his father to his face, “You are as good as dead to me, give me all my inheritance now.” He had become too big to ask his father for one loaf of bread today and two fish tomorrow. He wanted to have it all at once. He considered his father dead.

His humble father had no choice but to agree to his request. He gave his last son his own share of his inheritance and bade him farewell. The son became full of bread and that was where his downfall began. No wonder he was called The Prodigal Son. The word Prodigal means having or giving something on a lavish scale.

You know you are a prodigal son of God when you no longer need to spend time in God’s presence every morning to worship him, ask for mercy and ask for daily bread. You know you are a prodigal son of God when you no longer need to study Gods word for at least an hour everyday to know what he has to say today. You believe you know all of Gods mind already. You know you are a prodigal son when you feel you have all of God already and so there is no need to hunger and thirst after him. You know you are a prodigal son when you no longer seek after righteousness but only mutter a few confessions under your breath every time you fall into sin.

It did not take long before the devil began to deal with the prodigal son. The devil suffered him so much that one day, he began to beg even to eat the food of pigs. Oh, may that not be your portion in Jesus name, Amen. I want to beg you to repent and go back to your father’s house before it is too late. Repent before the devil sifts you as wheat. You father will accept you with willing and open arms. Get right with God before the devil gets you. God bless you.

THE NO 1. SHOCKING THING THAT MAKES YOU SIN | SINNER TO SAINT | 4/12/20

Good morning and welcome to Sinner To Saint,

In Ezekiel chapter 16 verse 49, God mentioned three stumbling blocks that make people sin. That verse says in the KJV, “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her an in her daughters neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” We shall divide this topic into a three-day series and consider the first stumbling block – Pride. Hence our topic for today is: The No. 1 shocking thing that makes you sin.

Pride is a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements.

Do you ever feel proud that you are a Christian? I mean that feeling of being better than others that are in darkness to the extent that you kind of despise or disregard the lost? You criticize their every move and condemn them in your heart or even verbally? Or is it your denomination? Do you feel your denomination is much more preferred by God than every other church or denomination? Do you feel holier or better than others because you pray longer or work harder than other Christians in the things of God? Do you feel you know Gods word more than other Christians? Do you always feel the need to correct and chastise other Christians? Do you feel God somehow loves you more than other Christians?

If your answer to some of these questions is yes, or you are not sure, then you are probably suffering from pride.

The key to defeating pride is to daily remind yourself of where God brought you from. You were once deep in lying, stealing, fornication, deceit, murder, religion, and any other kind or form of sin that exists. Then one day, God miraculously delivered you out of the shackles of Satan. You either heard a message or read a book that changed your life completely and set you on the journey to eternal life. You humbly repented from all your sins and became serious with God.

The problem though is that now you have a strong feeling that you are much better, righteous, holy, and serious with God than others or that somehow God specially prefers you to others. You now find it difficult to spend at least one hour everyday in prayer because God has blessed you on all sides, what else do you need to beg God for? You cannot remember the last time you sat down to study the bible for two hours because after all, you perfectly understand the scriptures and its application today, what new revelation could God add to your life? Evangelism? Haa! You are more than that now, God has called you to open a mega church not to go on the streets like a beggar handing out tracts to strangers and preaching the gospel. You do not want to catch any disease in this Coronavirus period.

So is the life and perspective of many Christians today.

Because pride has entered you heart, you find it easy to give in to temptation. You have so silenced the voice of the Holy Spirit that you do not hear directly from him anymore. When you feel too guilty for your liking after committing a sin, you quickly mutter some words under your breath, “God forgive me.” That is all. You have forgotten how to repent in tears and ashamedness.

Today, Jesus still stands at the door and knocks. He can revive you once again, he can make you passionate about him again. He can make you sinless and pure like you used to be. I plead with you to answer his call. Repent and create time for him again and you will see God transform you and use you for great and mighty things in this generation. God bless you.
