Homemakers Challenge | Day 18

Hi,

This challenge is to motivate and encourage you to eliminate chaos and clutter in your home and transform it to the clean and orderly place it’s supposed to be. Anyone (especially those who are not naturally organized like me) can join no matter what day we are on.

TODAY’S TASKS

1. Remove your bedsheets and pillow cases for washing. Expose your mattress to air for at least 12 hours before covering it up with a clean sheet. Also vacuum or dust the surface, corners and edges of your mattress

2. Wash all your dirty clothes, towels bedsheets, etc. Also include table cloths and throw-pillow cases if you have those

3. Sweep or Vacuum and mop the floors (rooms, under the bed, parlour, kitchen, lobby)

4. Scrub the floors and walls in your bathrooms and toilets

5. Wash your toilet(s) with a good toilet soap and disinfectant

Perfectionism means that you try not to leave so much mess to clean up. But clutter and mess show us that life is being lived.” – Anne Lamott

P.S.: If you work a 9 to 5 job, your greatest asset will be to learn how to divide work into smaller chunks, but they must get done regardless.

Homemakers Challenge | Day 6

Hi,

This challenge is to motivate and encourage you to eliminate chaos and clutter in your home and transform it to the clean and orderly place it’s supposed to be. Anyone (especially those who are not naturally organized like me) can join no matter what day we are on.

TODAY’S TASKS

1. Declutter your kitchen cabinets, freezer, refrigerator and pantry for 15 minutes (or less) each

2. Scrub your kitchen sink with scouring powder or baking soda. Flush with water and then wash again with regular dish soap. Your sink will be sparkling and smell fresh. Clean under the sink as well

3. Clean the four (4) sides of your cooker and all kitchen appliances (freezer, refrigerator, oven, microwave, etc) inside and out

4. Replace worn out cutlery, glassware and dishes with your best ones that you’ve been storing away somewhere. You have only one life, use your best things today.

“Afterwards, they always had tea in the kitchen, much the nicest room in the house.” – Flora Thompson

Cheers!

that half bread is better than none…

Dear Father,

I do not have much to say than that I got that mattress aired and vacuumed. Although I did not eventually vacuum underneath the bed, at least my mattress is clean now, the burden is less, and I can address underneath the bed some other day.

Before now, due to my idealistic nature, I wouldn’t likely attempt a task if I knew I couldn’t complete it at once. Now, I am learning that progress is more important than perfection. I am learning that half bread is better than none… and that’s why life on earth is a journey.

Your DD,

Joy Taiwo
