Day 53: Homelessness in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia with a population of about 6 million.

For many decades, the government forcefully evicted Turkmen from their homes in mass in a bid to ‘modernize’ the country in preparation for the Fifth Asian Indoor Martial Art Games in 2017. They were forced out without adequate compensation and many ended up poor and homeless.

The country is very secretive, so I could not find much data online about the state of homelessness in the country today. However, I believe that homelessness and poverty are still very prevalent as a result of the actions of the Turkmen government.

Father, please deliver homeless people in Turkmenistan and help them to find hope in their seemingly hopeless situation. Though they might be in prison, help them find joy and freedom and platforms to promote the message of Salvation in Christ Jesus, Amen.
