Fear is the number one factor that keeps us away from being faithful witnesses for Christ.
We worry about what that exquisitely dressed and polished woman will think of us or what that fierce muscular man smoking cigarette with red eyes will do to us if we dare open our mouths to preach to them.
Thank God that on judgement day, fear will not be an excuse, because we have the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 1:6-8 says,
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
When we stir up the gift of God by being alone with Him in worship, prayer and bible study, boldness to face the sinner rises in us.
We do not have self-confidence, we have God-confidence.
The Holy Spirit helps us to face the sinner with power, love and sound doctrine. He makes us unashamed of the testimony of our Lord. He makes us willing to partake of the afflictions of the gospel.
We just have to stir-up!
