Prayer is a two-way communication with God. So it is important to actually understand what you are telling to God.

Usually, if I have a burden to pray, I may just start praying in tongues and after a while God will begin to drop some things in my heart in my own understanding, so I eventually know the meaning of what I am saying.

BIBLE PASSAGES ON INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES

1. “Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful. (1 Corinthians 14:13-14)

2. “If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. (1 Corinthians 14:27-28).

As said yesterday, we should ask God for the meaning of our tongues and I experience this by focusing when praying. *You know the mind can stray a lot.* When I focus and pray long enough, the interpretation comes.

From the second passage, we see that in a church service, God wants us to interpret tongues so that EVERYONE benefits.

You know in church, everyone is in different stages of growth. There is a mix of baby Christians and spiritual giants plus everyone in between, even unbelievers who just strolled in or were invited.

I see God’s love ♥️in this. God is concerned about every single person in that service and wants each person to go away blessed, not confused.

Unfortunately many churches today who speak in tongues do not give any allowance for the manifestation of this gift so we see that many believers don’t even desire it. Its probably the least desired gift out of the 9.

If you are interested in this moving powerfully in this gift, I encourage you to form a small group (even 2 is fine) of people who you will meet to pray together periodically and you can practise this gift. Someone will speak in tongues while you will interprete.

Your interpretation may not be accurate at first but with desire and practise, you will get there eventually. Its a very powerful sign when it comes to winning the lost and edifying other believers.
