40 Days To Purpose | Day 34

The Gift of Healing

Jesus, in Mark 16:17-18, said there are certain signs that follow a believer. This means there are certain characteristics that people should associate with my life. One of them is that when I lay hands on a sick person, they should recover.
๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”To Ponder
How many sick people have I healed since I believed in Jesus Christ?
Was Jesus lying when he said this?
So, if Jesus was not lying, why is this gift not manifesting in my life?
The answer is in Matthew 14:14. It says,

โ€œAnd Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.โ€

You see, its not that you do not have the power to heal. You have the Holy Spirit in you which is the source of that power. The problem is that our hearts are not yet like Christ. We are yet to share his compassion in this area.

๐Ÿค”How do you feel when you see or think of a sick person?

1. Know that you have the power to heal
2. To access this power, requires time with God
3. When spending time with God, ask Jesus to give you his heart and his passions

4. Go out and look for people who are sick and start practising this gift. Lay hands on anyone you know who is sick. The more attempts you make, the more opportunity you are giving the Holy Spirit to show his power.

Christ’s motive for healing was simply compassion. Many times, he urged those he healed not to tell anyone, his desire was not to be seen and known. The plight of a sick person touched him so much that he was moved to heal them. There was nothing else in it for him or that he was hoping to gain.

My greatest joy will be that by the end of this class, a great purging will start in each of us as God will be taking away every selfish or vain or worldly motive for seeking him. The truth is until we are purged of these weights, Christโ€™s power will not be able to flow freely through us.
God wants to use you to bring healing to this hurting world. Will you give him your time and heart?
May God help us in Jesus name, Amen.
