Today, we are looking at *Meekness or Humility
Once again, I think the most important thing that has stood out for me in this series of Fruits of the spirit is that these things are not naturally given. No one is naturally born with these fruits. They are a result of the Spirit of God at work in the life of a man.
No one is born naturally Meek or Humble. A quiet or easy-going person is not necessarily humble. He/she may just have a lot of inner pride. 👌In fact, quietness and staying away from people may be because of pride within a person’s heart or shyness or over self-consciousness.
There was a time in Moses’ life when he had lost everything. The Israelites and the Egyptians hated him, and he fled 🏃♂️into the wilderness for his life. Being a poor man and having lost all sense of self-esteem, he became a servant 🧎♂️to his father-in-law.
Then God called him and told him to go and deliver the Israelites from Egypt. He struggled greatly with the idea at first but eventually went with the help of Aaron.
After God worked great wonders with the hands of Moses, the Israelites gained their freedom. The people finally saw Moses as a Man of God. They took Moses as their leader and obeyed his words as the words of God.
🧐Now, it would not have surprised me if the bible recorded not long after that Moses became proud or something like that. There are bible stories of humble people becoming proud after God used them. I am rather shocked at what the bible says about Moses character after God glorified him in the sight of so many people. Numbers 12:3.
(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth).
Can you imagine?
After Moses had “blown”. After he became a celebrity; a man that spoke to God one-on-one. It would have been okay if he were one of the meek men in Israel. It would also have been okay if he were one of the meek men in the world. NO, MOSES WAS THE MEEKEST MAN ON EARTH. Wow!😯😯😯
This reminds me of Jesus who was God, yet he humbled himself and made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant (Philippians 2:7). He was a 👑King, and had every right to raise his shoulders high, yet he chose to be meek, riding upon a donkey (Matthew 21:5). You really do not know how humble you are yet until you see how your behaviour changes when God begins to lift you higher.
Hmm, may God help me o.
🤔How will I behave if God decides to ‘glorify’ me? What will I become? Let me just end it here because we all need to go and think.
I pray that God will help us to examine our hearts and submit ourselves FULLY to his making process. May He grant us grace to genuinely give him back all the glory in our lives in Jesus name Amen.🙏
