Is 🤔🤔🤔it true that some people are born gentle while some others are not just naturally gentle? Galatians 5:22 tells us that Gentleness is a fruit of the spirit not a fruit of the flesh. This means, no one is naturally born 🤱gentle, and God’s definition of gentleness is different from that which we are used to.
You may think that your quiet friend who does not speak up or act out when challenged is gentle. But this is not how God defines gentleness. Gentleness in God’s eyes is neither quietness nor timidity, it is being obedient and subservient 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️to God’s mindset and rules for living. It means standing firm against unrighteousness in one-self and evil in the world.
A gentle person is one that accepts God’s judgment on people and issues. To submit to God’s point of view. To go easy on people and try to justify actions that God has called sin is not being gentle, it is allowing sin to abound, just like Aaron. To let your friend, continue in sin without speaking the truth or doing anything about it, is not being gentle, its being selfish, because that friend could die anytime and go to hell🔥 forever.
Even in preaching the gospel, you must not be so soft that a sinner does not realize they have sinned. Gentleness means to confront a person in a mild, loving, encouraging manner, being clear about the holiness that God calls us to.
God’s kind of gentleness is firm yet loving. It is the kind that Jesus displayed throughout his life on earth. Finally, lets look at this scripture:
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of gentleness/meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
May the Lord teach us to speak the truth in love to one another always so we can all grow up into Him, in Jesus name, Amen 🙏🙏🙏
