40 Days To Purpose | Day 22

Right now, I want you to list 3 things you are currently worried about. Write them down. Now briefly close your eyes and ask God to take control, to solve those issues.
Now check your heart. How do you feel? My guess is that you feel slightly less worried than before. That small feeling of assurance is God’s peace. It is a fruit of the spirit i.e. the result of shifting your trust from yourself to God.

Peace needs to be cultivated. When you put an Orange seed in the ground and water it, you don’t wake up the next morning and head to your farm with a big basket 🧺to pack oranges🍊🍊🍊🍊. For several more months, you will head to the farm with water πŸ’¦and tools πŸͺ“to prune your plant.🌳🌳. So also, to see any fruit of the spirit manifest in your life, you must work at it.

Do you want to be a person free from anxiety, worry and cares?

If yes, these are things you must do:
1. Find out if there is really God.
I mean it. This is the foundation for inner Peace.

One of the reasons why you still worry over an issue even after telling it to Jesus is that deep down in your heart, you are not really sure if he exists. After all, you have not seen him with your two πŸ‘€ eyes so what makes you so sure he is alive and he heard you?
See, you have to make sure you’re not just wasting your time.

Ditch the my-Pastor-said syndrome. Become convinced beyond all doubt that this God, Jesus, Heaven and Hell is real. Its not lack of faith to do this, you are rather building your faith.

πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰ Suggested reading: “More Than A Carpenter” by Josh McDowell.

2. Practise telling God your needs and cares.

Most of us grew up into adulthood with the training to worry. You were naturally groomed to believe that your problem is your problem and you have to sort yourself out. As an adult, you believe you are now on your own. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ We tell each other, “Take care of yourself.”

I want to remind you that no matter how old you are, you are still God’s child. God wants you to depend on him the way your child(ren) depend on you. He wants to hear every worry or care you have.

SHORT STORY: I met a man on the field recently. I was encouraging him to have a daily quiet time. He then told me, “I don’t like disturbing God”. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈIt is sad that some people think God is so small and limited that we can “disturb” him.

Look at these passages:

Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

πŸ”‘πŸ”‘The key to Peace is to form the habit casting your cares upon God:

Philippians 4
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When you are a person of peace inside, it will naturally flow and extend to your relationship with other people.
